Jeff Steffen M.A., CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist--Manager

Jeff has been providing quality care in the Denver Metro area for over twenty years.  His studies in the field of communication disorders began at the University of Maine at Orono.  After moving to Colorado, he completed a Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Professionally his first twelve years were spent at The Children's Hospital Northwest Specialty Care Center.  He worked for another private practice until opening Foothills Speech and Language LLC in June of 2009.


  In addition to working here, Jeff continues to work with the Children's Hospital Cleft Lip and Palate Team, an area of professional expertise.  Mr. Steffen remains active in  state and national organizations. He has taught and lectured at local, state and international venues. 

Spare time is devoted to helping raise his children.

 


Emily Vera, M.S., CCC-SLP    Speech Language Pathologist

  Emily Vera has been treating both adults and children in a variety of settings (outpatient, assisted living facilities, long term care units, and skilled nursing facilities) since moving to the Denver in 2008.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders from Winthrop University.  She then attended the Medical University of South Carolina and received a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  Emily has been awarded her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. 

Emily has worked with the Evelyn Trammell Institute for Voice and Swallowing treating patients who have voice disorders as well as recovering head and neck cancer patients.  Her professional interests include craniofacial disorders (cleft lip and palate), and interned with the Craniofacial team at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. 

Since moving to Colorado, Emily and her husband Elliott are enjoying skiing, hiking the “14ers,” biking the many trails, and watching the Nuggets, Rockies, and Broncos play great games!



Amanda Polland M.S., CCC-SLP

Vocologist, Speech Language Pathologist


Amanda was born in California where she attended the University of California, Davis for her Bachelor of Arts in Communications.  She then graduated from the University of the Pacific with her Masters of Science degree in speech-language pathology in 2004.  Amanda has worked in the private sector, schools, hospital and skilled nursing facility with both adults and children, treating a variety of disorders.  She attended the Summer Vocology Institute in 2007 in Denver to receive her certification in Vocology and shortly after, moved to Denver permanently.  Amanda specializes in treating the voice, both habilitation and rehabilitation. 

Amanda has been providing services in the greater Denver area for approximately two and half years at The Children’s Hospital.  She remains committed to offering the best care for both children and adults. 

Amanda enjoys running, cycling, outdoor activities, spending time with friends and family, knitting and crocheting in her spare time.





 
Adrianna Avery M.A., CCC-SLP

Adrianna was born and raised in western Colorado. She completed her undergraduate work in communication disorders at the University of Northern Colorado. She then went on to earn her Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Colorado. Adrianna began her journey in speech-language pathology working in the beautiful San Luis Valley of Colorado providing services for preschool and elementary students in the public schools. Adrianna has spent the last two years working for Douglas County School District. Adrianna believes strongly in the power of early intervention. While attending the University of Northern Colorado she developed the curriculum for and co-taught the Talking and Listening for Preschoolers early intervention program. She believes in the efficacy of story-book based intervention and shared storybook experiences. She has specialized in providing early literacy support and interventions in the kindergarten classes at the elementary school where she currently works.

 

In her spare time Adrianna enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, hiking, cooking, and competing in triathlons.





                                                                    Sarah Metz M.A., CCC-SLP

Sarah was born in Buffalo, NY.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Binghamtom University in 2004 and her Masters of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University at Buffalo in 2007.  She then moved to North Carolina after graduation where she worked with adults and children in a variety of settings (private clinics, home health/early intervention, outpatient neurological, acute care, etc) prior to moving to Denver in 2010.  She currently works full time at Craig Hospital treating adults with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries and is exited to provide services on a PRN basis to clients at Foothills Speech and Language LLC.    In her free time Sarah enjoys spending time with her 2 labs, hiking, biking, cooking and spending time with friends.
